Overview review: The Old Man stories

Writer and Cambridge-dweller Jay O'Connell (author of Dystopian Love) gives a nice overview of my in-process Old Man series here.

I've been poking and prodding at the final story, but I've also been working on an unrelated piece of short fiction. More news soon.

Good review! Looking forward to your next stories.

I'm also working on a couple of pieces, one (too) long, and one short.

cheers, Calvin

What counts as too long? You planning to cut it down?

Yeah. It's 16,000 wds and I'd like for it to be at least under 14. It just doesn't feel like a story that supports quite so much verbiage. I do know my POV character spends a lot of time in the middle moping, so certainly some stuff can be cut....

I just read the first two stories of The Old Man, and am heartily impressed. I've read a fair number of works (of varying success) influenced by the same source material. Yours, I feel, gets to the heart of the matter with greater elegance and perception than most. Well done; looking forward to the third installment.

I'm currently working on a novel influenced by, among other things, Norvell Page's vivid, violent stories of The Spider -- if I can bring it off.

Thanks for reading and for letting me know what you think, Manuel. I'm glad you're enjoying the stories.

The Spider is one tough monkey. Er, spider. Good luck with your writing.

Cheers,

Bill
